Pompom chick: an easy DIY!

Pompom chick

Happy Spring! I am so happy that bounce is in the end here. We still have cool pompom chick temperatures here in Brittany, but I know warmer temperatures are coming. Yippee! With spring comes Easter and all that relates to it. I love colors, bunnies (check out these DIY Easter bunny ideas ), chicks, and chocolates. It’s such a fun season; today, I bring you a festive craft for children: the pompom chicks.

Interest: development of motor skills and creation

Materials: yellow thread, yellow pompoms (to make yourself or to buy on Amazon ), scissors, 8mm wiggly eyes, orange pipe cleaners, thread cutter (optional), and strong glue.

Tutorial to make a pompom chick

Start by making a yellow wool pompom. You can use a pom pom maker or any other technique to make a pom pom. There are many ways (with a fork, cardboard, fingers, etc.). Do not hesitate to find a technique that suits you and is suitable.

Once the pompom is done, you will cut your pipe cleaner into small pieces for the legs and beak of the Easter chick. You don’t need to measure these pieces; make sure they’re big enough to fold into little feet (as pictured below) and that you can bend the spout in half so there’s no not have a sharp piece of thread stinging from his little face. You can also use orange felt for the beak if you wish.

You are now ready to assemble your pom chick. You will place a dab of glue on each foot, push it into the pompom, and do the same with the beak. I used a glue gun to attach all my parts to keep assembly time quick and easy. A low-temperature glue gun is safe and has a fast drying time. Alternatively, use strong glue.

Glue on your wiggly eyes – and you’re done! Do not hesitate to make many pompom chicks to decorate your house at Easter. Kids will love having it in their bedroom too. See how adorable these little Easter chicks are? They would make great little gifts for an upcoming Easter or dinner party, wouldn’t they? You can even add them to small Easter baskets to give to family or friends!
