How to Draw A Rabbit
Step 1
Begin by outlining the bunny’s face. Draw an irregular circular shape with the bottom slightly wider than the top.
Rabbits naturally have plump, fluffy cheeks. Next, remember to highlight the cheeks while outlining the rabbit’s face.
Here’s a handy tip: draw a vertical line and a horizontal line on the paper as a reference line to make sure the bunny’s face is drawn right in the middle.
Step 2
On top of the bunny’s face, draw a pair of ears on each side of the face. The bunny’s ears look like an upside-down letter “U”.
The bottom of the ear that connects to the bunny’s face should be narrow, while the middle of the ear should be the widest, as shown in the picture.
Rabbits are known for their extra-large ears. Next, ensure your bunny’s ears are huge to make it look more realistic! Also, try to make the ears the same size as much as possible.
Step 3
Now that we’ve completed the outline of the bunny’s face, it’s time to draw the body.
Draw two curved lines just below the bunny’s face. The shape of the arms should be like a smaller version of the bunny ears we drew in the previous step.
In this illustration, you can see that the rabbit’s arms are placed at the front of its body. However, you can position the bunny’s arms however you like. You can position your arms at the sides of his body or even raise them straight up.
Step 4
Next, it’s time to draw the whole body of the bunny!
Extend the lines to create a full body using the previous step as a guide. Next, draw a pair of feet with three toes each on either side of the bunny’s body. One foot should point forward while the other points to the side.
Remember to plump the body to create an extremely adorable bunny!
Step 5
One of the most adorable features of a rabbit is its tail. And in this step we will draw the bunny’s furry tail!
Draw several curved shapes that connect to the underside of the bunny’s back. If drawn correctly, it should look like fluffy cotton wool. Remember that the tail will be placed on the bottom of the bunny, so it should only be half visible.
Step 6
Now it’s time to add the intricate details on the bunny’s body to make it look more realistic.
Let’s start by adding patterns in the bunny’s ears. Using the outline of the bunny ears we drew in step two as a guide, draw a smaller outline inside each of the bunny’s ears.
Remember that the second outline should be slightly smaller than the first outline of the bunny ears. This will make the rabbit’s ears look more realistic.
Step 7
Draw an upside-down triangle in the middle of the bottom of the bunny’s face. It should be removed from the forehead and placed close to the chin.
To ensure the nose is drawn proportionately, draw reference lines on the rabbit’s face to find the perfect spot for the nose.
Step 8
Draw two large circles over the bunny’s nose. Next, draw two more circles in the eyes. Next, shade your eyes to complete the look.
Don’t forget to omit the tiny circle in the unshaded eyes to create the illusion of “sparkly eyes”.
To ensure your eyes are aligned and even, ensure your nose is positioned under and directly between your eyes.
Step 9
Draw a small vertical line just under the nose. Draw two curved lines on either side from the top of the vertical line. It should look like a curvy letter “W” if drawn correctly.
Here you can see that the cupcake is almost ready! The only thing that needs to be added is more colour to complete the bunny artwork!
Finally, the most exciting part comes: fill in the colours for your amazing drawing! This is where you can show off your artistic skills and ability to mix and match different colours.
Rabbits come in various colours, with white, black, brown, cream, fawn, and grey being the most common. Some rabbits even have distinct patterns on their fur. This gives you many colour options when colouring your bunny design.
