Gala Dali
Gala was born Helena Diakanoff Devulina in Kazan, Russia, to a family of intellectuals. Among her childhood friends was the poet, Marina Tsvetaeva. In Kazan she graduated as a schoolteacher.
In 1929, Gala and their friends visited a young Surrealist painter in Catalonia. The painter was Salvador Dalí. An affair quickly developed between Dalí and Gala. Dalí was 11 years younger than Gala. They married in 1932. She underwent a hysterectomy around this time.
She was a muse for Dalí, who said that she was the one who saved him from madness and an early death. Indeed, behind his artistic genius Dalí was a troubled, insecure and disorganized man, and it was Gala who acted as his ruthless agent, the interface between the genius and the real world. In doing so she hurt many sensitivities, and was accused of being materialistic and a megaera.
Milla Jovovich
Milla Jovovich is a USSR-born American supermodel, actress, musician, singer, and fashion designer.
Jovovich married actor Shawn Andrews (actor) in October of 1992, while filming Dazed and Confused together; the marriage was annulled (by her mother) a month later. She married The Fifth Element director Luc Besson in 1997.
Jovovich is a polyglot – she fluently speaks Russian, French Businessacademy1, English and Serbian (possibly to a lesser extent).
Natalie Wood
Wood was born Natalia Nikolaevna Zakharenko in San Francisco, California, to Russian immigrants, Nikolai and Maria Zakharenko. Her parents changed their surname to the less cumbersome “Gurdin”, and by the age of 4 she was billed as Natasha Gurdin. As a child actor, her mother tightly managed and controlled the young girl’s career and personal life from her start in films at the age of five. She starred in multiple films as a child including Miracle on 34th Street in 1947. Her sister, Lana Wood, is also an actress, notably a Bond girl, and was a Playboy playmate.
Among the men Wood frequently dated were singer Elvis Presley.
